Trump declares state of emergency, as California is ravaged by 500 wildfires

Wild fires have taken hold in California, after high winds and lightening strikes resulted in evacuation orders for more than 100,000 people.

At least five residents have died so far.

As 500 individual blazes took hold, President Donald Trump declared a state of emergency.

Previously Mr Trump blamed the state for failing to manage forests correctly, and threatened to withhold federal cash from tackling the deadly blaze.
