Residents risked own lives to pull injured man alive from house flattened by ‘gas explosion’

One house has been destroyed and several others have been significantly damaged after an explosion in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police has said there have been reports of casualties but the number and the severity of the people’s injuries are currently unknown.

Emergency services and utility companies are currently at the scene in Dulwich Road, Kingstanding.

Evacuations are taking place and residents have been told to leave the area immediately.

The cause of the explosion is not yet known.
