Country celebrates first day of Platinum Jubilee

The first day of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations was packed with memorable images.

The Queen joined three generations of her family on the Buckingham Palace balcony as thousands watched on from the Mall.

There was a birthday parade, gun salute and military flypast.

Prince Louis stole the show before the celebrations moved on to Windsor Castle, where the Monarch lit the principle Platinum Jubilee beacon.

Rhiannon Mills reports on the ceremonies and the celebrations to mark seven decades of service.
