Missing teenager found alive more than eight years after disappearance

A missing Texas teenager has been found alive after disappearing more than eight years ago.

Rudy Farias was reported missing from Houston, Texas on 6 March, 2015 at the age of 18.

He was last seen walking his two dogs, near his home, according to authorities. Both dogs then returned to the house without their leads.

After nationwide concern, the Texas Centre for the Missing said on Saturday that Mr Farias has been “located safe” and is recovering in a hospital.

Reasons for his disappearance remain unknown, but family members said he suffered from depression, particularly after the death of his older brother in a motorbike accident years before his disappearance, according to NBC.

“He watched his best friend die right in front of him,” Brenda Paradise, a private investigator hired by the Farias’, said in April 2015.

“His brother was his best friend in the world. He’s just gone through so much more than anyone his age ever should.”

Police at the time did not suspect any criminal activity.

“This family has been through so much,” Ms Paradise said.

“Whatever happened, a mum needs answers about her son.”
