Tennessee lawmaker silenced by colleagues

The Republican-controlled Tennessee House of Representatives voted to silence Rep. Justin Jones (D). Jones was ruled out of order for criticizing proposals that would allow private schools to adopt their own handgun carry policies. Later, he was ruled off topic over a bill that would allow local police to assign an officer to a school that doesn’t have one. Democrats walked out of the chamber in protest after the vote to silence Jones. Earlier in 2023, Jones was ousted by lawmakers from the state legislature, but voters decided to place him back in office. #cnn #news
