TV journalist shot dead at scene of murder in Florida

A TV journalist has been shot dead while reporting from the scene of a murder in Florida.

They were covering the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old woman in Pine Hills at the time of the attack.

Another Spectrum News 13 employee was injured while reporting at the scene, which is west of Orlando.

Detectives also responded to a nearby property where a girl and her mother were found with gunshot wounds – and the nine-year-old later died.

A 19-year-old man was detained at the scene of the most recent shooting, and officials believe all three attacks are connected.

The suspect has been identified as Keith Melvin Moses, and he has been formally charged with the murder of the first victim. Additional charges relating to the other four victims are set to follow.

According to officials, the teenager has a lengthy criminal history – including charges related to firearms, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and theft.

Special report: Gun violence in America

At a news conference, Sheriff John Mina said it had been a “horrible day”.

He added: “No one in our community – not a mother, not a nine-year-old and certainly not news professionals – should become the victim of gun violence in our community.”

Mr Mina said the motive behind the shootings is currently unclear.
