Donald Trump is ineligible for the US presidency under the US constitution’s insurrection clause, the Colorado Supreme Court has ruled.
The ruling comes as the former US leader prepares to run for the presidency in 2024.
Trump is accused of inciting riots at the US Capitol Building in an effort to overturn the result after he lost the US election in 2020.
The Colorado Supreme Court has now removed Trump from the state’s presidential primary ballot, setting up a likely showdown in the nation’s highest court to decide whether the front-runner for the Republican nomination can remain in the race.
