Russian forces appear to be making progress in their advance on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, as the city of Mariupol continues to be under siege.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin were joined in a 75-minute phone call today by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
